Request a bigger bin
To check if you are making the most of all the recycling facilities available to you, make sure you are familiar with what can go in each bin, and take a read of our recycling tips.
Application criteria
You can apply for extra capacity if you live in a home where:
- there are six or more permanent residents
- there are two or more children in disposable nappies under the age of 36 months
- there is a resident with excess non-infectious healthcare-related waste
You should only apply for a larger bin if you have a purple-lidded 180-litre refuse bin. If you meet the criteria, you will be issued a 240 litre bin. If you already have a 240 litre purple-lidded bin, then we can provide you with waste management advice.
How to apply
Your entitlement to the extra capacity will be subject to the completion of a five-week waste diary and your request will be reviewed on an annual basis.
If you are applying because you have a medical condition that generates additional non-recyclable waste, you will not be required to complete a five-week diary.
For all other requests, please download the five-week waste diary here and complete our request a bigger bin online form. We may also ask for additional information to support your application.
If you need assistance to complete this form, please see our contact us for ways of getting in touch.
