Communal properties - advice for residents
We provide the following recycling service to communal properties, where it is possible to do so:

| Mixed recycling bin | Plastic, glass, tins, cans, cartons, plastic bags wrappings Please ensure that all your recycling is loose in the bin, not bagged up |
| Cardboard and paper bin | Magazines, corrugated card, cardboard packaging, newspapers, white and coloured paper |
| Food waste bin | Cooked meat, bones, plate scrapings, vegetable peelings, bread, tea bags etc. |
| Non-recyclables bin | Polystyrene, cigarette ends, cat or dog waste, tissues, disposable nappies and wipes |

Communal bin capacity
East Herts Council will provide the required amount of refuse containers for communal properties.
- Please be mindful of capacity: if one bin is full, please use another bin of the correct type with more space.
- The bins will not be emptied if they are overfilled, contaminated, or obstructed by waste on the floor.
- Please ensure that the bins (or bin store) are not obstructed by vehicles on collection day. Our operatives can visit anytime from 6.30am until 5.00pm.
- Electrical items (anything with a plug, battery or cable) should not be disposed of in any of your bin as they pose a safety risk to our crews. Please take all electricals and batteries to your nearest recycling centre.
- Remember to advise us if the security codes, keys or key fobs for access to the bin areas have changed.
