For the second consecutive year East Herts Council will mark Love Parks Week at Castle Park in Bishop’s Stortford, following last year’s well-enjoyed festivities. Residents are invited to join the celebrations on Thursday, 30 July from 12PM until 3PM.

Love Parks Week is an annual campaign spearheaded by Keep Britain Tidy that puts a spotlight on parks and open spaces, as well as the people who care for those spaces and the communities they serve.

At the event in Castle Park, parkgoers can expect a range of cost-free family-focused activities, including an archaeology experience where kids can find hidden treasures, face painting, arts and crafts, expert tennis coaching (must be booked in advance on ClubSpark), and a story and rhyme time session lead by Bishop’s Stortford Library.

The popular East Herts Love Parks Dog Show will also make a return at the event, featuring categories such as Waggiest Tail, Best Rescue and Best Child Handler, with entries to the competition being encouraged.

Love Parks Week 2026 provides a wonderful opportunity for residents to come together and enjoy one of the district’s Green Flag Award-winning parks, whilst also reflecting on the importance of these spaces to local communities.

Councillor Sarah Hopewell, Executive Member for Wellbeing at East Herts Council, said, “Love Parks Week and this annual event is a major highlight in the district calendar – I’m excited to once again see families getting together at the start of the summer holidays to make the most of the spectacular Castle Park and all it has to offer.

The Parks and Open Spaces Team, local “Friends Of” groups and other volunteers all work so hard to ensure the parks in East Herts best serve their local communities, and this is a great chance for residents to learn more and get stuck in with conservation efforts across the district – as well as a bit of arts and crafts, archaeology and tennis!”
