East Herts Council is inviting residents and families to join in a special afternoon of fun and community spirit at Castle Park, Bishop’s Stortford, on Thursday 31 July from 12pm to 3pm, as part of Love Parks Week 2025.

This exciting event will include a variety of free, family-friendly activities designed to celebrate the importance of our parks and green spaces. Children can enjoy story time and rhyme time sessions led by Bishop’s Stortford Library, offering an engaging and imaginative experience for younger visitors. Sports enthusiasts can take part in free tennis sessions throughout the event, delivered by a coach from Bishop’s Stortford Tennis Club.

Dog lovers will be able to take part in a fun and friendly dog show, open to all breeds and backgrounds. For those interested in history and hands-on learning, a special archaeological sandpit will allow children to uncover hidden treasures. There will also be creative craft activities where children can decorate their own shield and take home their unique creation.

Councillor Sarah Hopewell, Executive Member for Wellbeing at East Herts Council, said: “The Love Parks Week event is a great kick start to the school summer holidays. With such variety of activities there is something for everyone and an opportunity for the whole family to get outside and enjoy nature, fresh air and maybe even learn a new skill. I’m excited for the change in location this year and can’t wait to showcase the new Castle Park after its recent transformation.”

Love Parks Week, running nationally from 25 July to 3 August and organised by Keep Britain Tidy, is a celebration of the role parks play in supporting healthy lifestyles, mental wellbeing, and strong communities. The event at Castle Park offers a perfect opportunity for people of all ages to come together, explore their local park, and take part in activities that inspire and entertain.
