The new Local Plan will set out the vision, objectives and planning policies that will shape how East Hertfordshire grows and changes. With the aim of protecting the district’s character and identity, the Local Plan will also address matters such as the demand for housing, employment, infrastructure, the natural and historic environment, as well as the health and wellbeing of communities.
The Scoping Consultation is an early stage in the plan‑making process, designed to gather views from residents, businesses, community groups and other stakeholders on the key issues the Local Plan should address. This feedback will help shape the plan’s scope and approach to future engagement, ensuring local priorities are reflected from the outset.
Subject to Full Council approval, the Scoping Consultation will launch on Thursday, 11 June and will run until Friday, 10 July. The consultation will help inform the next stages of Local Plan preparation. Further information on how to take part will be available closer to the launch date.
Cllr Vicky Glover-Ward, Executive Member for Planning and Growth at East Herts Council, said, “The new Local Plan is an opportunity to set out a positive, long‑term vision for East Herts. It will guide how our district grows and changes over the coming years, and it is important that it reflects the needs and priorities of the people who live and work here. At this early stage, we want to hear views on the issues that matter most and on how we should approach planning for the future.”
“Early engagement is essential to getting this right. By involving residents, businesses and stakeholders at the start of this process, we can work together to ensure the Local Plan strikes the right balance between delivering new homes and jobs, protecting our environment and heritage, and providing the infrastructure our communities need. I would strongly encourage everyone to take part in the consultation and help shape a sustainable future for the district.”
