EV Contract Award
East Herts Council has awarded a 15-year contract to Otaski Energy Solutions Ltd for the installation and long-term maintenance of electric vehicle (EV) charging points across the district’s public car parks.

The programme will see 193 AC (Alternating Current) and DC (Direct Current) chargers installed over an initial three-year programme - converting up to 10% of council-owned parking bays into dedicated EV charging spaces. A further 44 points will also be made ready to be activated in line with future demand.

Otaski Energy Solutions Ltd, who were selected through a competitive tendering process, will install, maintain and support the charging infrastructure, whilst paying a fee for operating in East Herts car parks. This contract will ensure residents and visitors benefit from increased access to market leading, modern charging facilities without additional burden on local taxpayers.

Councillor Tim Hoskin, Executive Member for Environmental Sustainability at East Herts Council, said: "This is a significant step forward in supporting our residents to make the transition to cleaner, greener travel. By working with Otaski Energy Solutions, we are future-proofing our car parks, improving air quality, and helping to cut carbon emissions across East Herts."

This is a welcome commitment from the council and comes as data released in January 2026 shows that one in five newly registered cars were battery electric vehicles.*

With the help of this project, East Herts will be well-placed to meet growing demand for public charging infrastructure and to support residents, businesses, and visitors in making the switch to electric.

Stephen Lawrence, Head of Business Development at Otaski added: “We’re proud to partner with East Herts District Council on this ambitious rollout. Our goal is to make EV charging accessible, reliable, and future-ready for communities across the UK.”
