Empty Causeway Car Park
The council has applied to change a planning condition to allow the Causeway car park in Bishop’s Stortford to reopen temporarily for Waitrose customers.

This is while the supermarket carries out essential repairs to its own car park.

The proposed arrangement would help Waitrose continue operating with minimal disruption, giving its existing customers somewhere to park while the repairs take place.

The planning condition currently prevents public parking at Causeway and was introduced following the opening of Northgate End multi-storey car park. The proposal is intended to replace parking temporarily unavailable at Waitrose, rather than increase the overall parking available in the area. It would remain in place only for the duration of the repairs.

The application will now be considered by the council’s planning team. If approved, further details, including the parking arrangements, dates and expected duration, will be shared.
