An engagement day will be held at the skate park on Wednesday, 30 July from 11am to 2pm, marking the launch of a public consultation aimed at gathering feedback on how the skate park can be improved to better serve the community. The council has a small budget available and want to focus it on what is most important to its users.
From skateboarders to BMX riders and scooters to roller bladers, the council wants to hear from everyone who enjoys the park’s space. Ideas for improvement include upgraded ramps, more seating, and landscaping to the area surrounding the skate park.
The consultation will run from Wednesday, 30 July to Sunday, 31 August, and feedback can also be submitted online at: yourvoice.eastherts.gov.uk/hartham-skate-park
Councillor Sarah Hopewell, Executive Member for Wellbeing at East Herts Council, said: “I’m very pleased that we have an opportunity to upgrade the skate park, and it would be great to have younger people share their views on what they’d like to see. With the session timed for the school holidays, I’d really encourage everyone who uses the space, or who would like to use it, to pop along and share their ideas. The more the space can be shaped by the people using it, the better.”
Visitors to the engagement day can view early concept designs and speak to members of the project team. Officers will be on hand to help complete the survey and talk through ideas for both the skate features and surrounding landscaping, including suggestions like wildflower planting, grassy mounds, and hedge areas.
