East Herts Council has been awarded £1.5 million in funding from the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero as part of the Warm Homes: Local Grant scheme.

This funding will support energy-saving improvements in eligible homes across the district over the next three years.

The grant aims to help low-income households reduce energy bills and improve home comfort while supporting our journey toward net-zero carbon targets. It will provide vital upgrades – such as insulation, low carbon heating measures, and other energy-efficiency improvements – to residents most in need.

Eligible households must have an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating of D, E, F, or G, and also meet one or more of the following criteria:

  • A total household income of up to £36,000 per year

  • A member of the household receives means-tested benefits

Jonathan Geall, Director for Communities at East Herts Council, said:

“I’m pleased to see more opportunities becoming available for our residents to save money and take part in sustainability efforts within the district. Schemes like the Warm Homes: Local Grant can make a real difference – helping people heat their homes comfortably while enjoying the health and financial benefits of a more energy-efficient living environment.”
