A housing development consisting of 25 new energy-efficient, affordable homes has been completed in Bishop’s Stortford, East Hertfordshire. The scheme is made up of 13 affordable rent houses, 9 shared ownership apartments, and 3 shared ownership houses which will welcome more than 100 new residents.

With houses of up to four bedrooms, as well as one- and two-bedroom flats, the new homes on this development provide much-needed renting and buying options for local people.

Latest government housebuilding targets call for 1,173 new homes to be built in East Hertfordshire every year. The new development provided by B3Living, a Herts-based housing association, alongside Vistry Homes Ltd, is part of the social landlord’s ongoing work to address the increasing demand for affordable homes across the Hertfordshire/Essex border while contributing to the national building pipeline.

B3Living own and manage 336 homes in the district and will shortly start a further 72 new affordable homes.

Marking the handover of the development, B3Living’s Executive Director (Development), Jon Hayden, commented:
“East Herts is one of our core areas of operation and we are pleased to have completed these new homes for 25 local families, in partnership with Vistry Homes and East Herts Council.

“The need for affordable housing for local people is significant across the district, and this scheme will make a difference to sustainable housing provision in Bishop's Stortford.

“Our aim is to start building 400 new homes by 2027 and 72 of these will be in East Herts which will help people in the area stay rooted in their communities in a safe, warm home they can afford”.

Cllr Mione Goldspink, Executive Member for Neighbourhoods at East Herts District Council said:
“It’s fantastic to see these much-needed affordable homes completed for local families. Access to safe, warm and sustainable housing is one of our top priorities, and developments like this play an essential role in helping people stay close to their support networks, schools and jobs. We’re pleased to be working with partners who share our commitment to delivering high-quality homes that truly benefit the community.”

The final homes in this Bishop’s Stortford development will be handed over in the next few weeks. The shared ownership homes are now available for sale at B3athome.co.uk
