New tenders for mobile vending opportunities in Council parks and open spaces across East Herts are now open with pitches available for ice cream van operators, mobile food and beverage traders from 1 April 2023 in time for the summer season.

Interest is welcomed from local suppliers and whilst suitable locations have been identified, if a business thinks they have a viable alternative they can state that on the application for consideration.

Pitches for ice cream van operators are available at Grange Paddocks and Thorley Park; the pitch at Hartham Common was successfully secured recently. Southern Country Park, Pishiobury Park and Presdales Recreation Ground are among other locations available for mobile food and beverage operators.  The sale of alcohol is not permitted.

Speaking about the launch of the new mobile vending opportunities, Eric Buckmaster, Executive Member for Wellbeing at East Herts Council said:

“Our aim is to enhance our parks and open spaces and offer better services and facilities for residents and visitors to the district alike. I very much hope these new mobile vending opportunities will attract interest from local suppliers and look forward to welcoming them opening at the new locations next year.

All submissions will be considered within the council’s financial regulations. Street trading licences are separate to the tender process and will be needed for each location. Details will be supplied as part of the tender application process.

If you’re interested in finding out more, have a look at the tender document. The return date for tenders is 9 January 2023 but if you have any questions, these should be raised by 12 December 2022.
