East Herts residents will begin receiving communications in the coming weeks as part of the annual electoral registration canvass; to ensure those living in the district, and entitled to register to vote, are registered and their details up to date.

The purpose of the canvass is to check details of all persons living in households, that are over the age of 16 and eligible to register, are correct; and to also confirm if they have a postal or proxy vote in place.

Initial checks are run against Department for Work and Pensions records and where all details match the register, and a valid email address is held on record, those households will receive an email from Civica Election Services with instructions how to check their household details online.

Other households will receive communication by post which will detail all persons currently listed on the register and instructions how to update the information – for example if any details need changing or person(s) need adding – or if necessary to confirm that nothing has changed.
