The annual publication of the Electoral Register for East Hertfordshire on 1 December reveals that there are currently 112,729 people registered to vote across the district.

The publication of the revised register is the culmination of the four month annual ‘canvass’ exercise during which East Herts Council is required to contact all 64,000 residential addresses in the district.

As a result, a total of 7,803 new electors were added to the register during the canvass period, as well as people who are no longer living in the area being removed to ensure the accuracy and completeness of the register.

The Electoral Registration Officer for East Herts Council, Chief Executive Richard Cassidy said; “Despite the continuing challenges presented by the Covid-19 pandemic our canvassers were able to complete all of our statutory duties and achieve a record 95% completion rate. My thanks go to the canvass staff and all local residents for their efforts and co-operation in the process.”

Any eligible residents who have not yet registered to vote may still do so on the Gov.uk website.  Registered electors who would like to apply for a postal or proxy vote can download and complete the application form on the council’s website
