Proposed 3G pitch view at Grange Paddocks
East Herts Council are launching a consultation for the provision of a third generation (3G) artificial grass football pitch at Grange Paddocks which would be located partially on the footprint of the old leisure centre next to the existing play area.

At East Herts Council we believe that sport and physical activity is an integral part of physical and mental well-being. Football is a popular sport both locally and nationally with high levels of participation. There is an under supply of artificial pitches in the area to support the continued growth In football, our 3G football pitch will contribute to meeting local demand all year round.

Football not only promotes mental and physical wellbeing by offering fitness and a fun and engaging way to meet new people and socialise, but also a structure for talent development. This pitch will be available for football clubs, private hire and open up opportunities for new initiatives such as walking football and other low-medium intensity physical activities.

The playing pitch strategy for East Herts identified that there is a collective deficit of  9.52 ‘3G’ football turf pitches across the district. This pitch will therefore help towards meeting this urgent demand.

The public engagement is running from Friday 6 August till Thursday 26 August. Feedback from the engagement will be taken into consideration ahead of a planning application which is due to be submitted in September.

We would encourage everyone to take part in the consultation and help shape the future of sporting provision in the district. More information about the strategy and the consultation can be found on our website.
