East Herts has welcomed 18 businesses into commercial properties since July, thanks to a successful council grant scheme.

Funded by BEIS (Dept. for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy), the grants of up to £5k support businesses to move into new premises, stimulating our local high streets and business communities to thrive.

From bakeries to florists and interior retailers to architects, the eclectic mix of businesses will drive footfall to our towns and boost employment opportunities locally.

Cllr Jan Goodeve, Executive Member for Planning and Growth, said: “Concerned for the impact of coronavirus on our high streets and other business areas, we set up the grant scheme to help local traders take on new premises and bring an exciting mix of shops, eateries and services to East Herts.

“It was fantastic to meet the dedicated people behind these businesses and hear first-hand the difference it’s made to their lives, their teams and their customers. I know the wonderful East Herts community will continue to support them.”

The grants are open until 31 March 2022. More information can be found at: www.eastherts.gov.uk/premises-grant
