East Herts Cultural Strategy (2021 to 2025)

East Herts Council and its partners are now inviting expressions of interest from people living and working in the district to get involved, support and be part of the driving force to deliver the new East Herts Cultural Strategy 2021-2025. This voluntary role is an exciting opportunity to make a difference.

  • attend regular meetings (initially every six weeks), participating in strategic
  • planning, supporting and championing the themed actions.
  • provide advice and guidance to the Cultural Delivery/Reference group
  • take the lead on one of the nine actions highlighted in the strategy under
  • ‘Actions built on needs’ (Please see the attached strategy)
  • look at needs, gaps and the data to establish projects/interventions
  • assist the Cultural Delivery/Reference group in defining goals, setting and
  • evaluating performance against agreed targets
  • work on fundraising initiatives and - if appropriate - financially support the
  • delivery of specific activities
  • safeguard and promote the good name and values of the Arts and Cultural
  • Strategic group
  • ensure sustainable partnership delivery through active community engagement
  • assist the Arts and Cultural Strategic Group in achieving a high profile
  • national/regional and local position on the cultural sector

Each member is asked to focus on one or two areas in which they have in-depth
expertise and to both represent these functions within the strategic group as well as be the main ‘port of call’ for delivery group seeking advice in these areas. We are therefore particularly looking for members with expertise in any one or a combination of the following areas:

  • Arts and Culture
  • Equalities and Diversity
  • Community connection /ties in the district
  • Rural Networks
  • Finance and Fundraising
  • Young people
  • Working with vulnerable groups
  • Technology – especially delivering from digital platforms
  • Education Sector
  • Project Management

We are keen for members to bring either years of experience and business acumen, or forward thinking ideas especially from younger members that can drive the partnership to deliver its vision. Honesty, integrity, independent decision-making and objectivity are personal qualities that we consider necessary for our Strategic Members to possess in order to fulfil this role well.
