Parking Traffic Regulation Orders

Parking restrictions in the district, and the conditions of use of permitted parking areas, are defined in Traffic Regulation Orders. If a new restriction is introduced, a new Traffic Regulation Order must be created in order to give the restriction legal authority.

All current Parking Traffic Regulation Orders are listed under the relevant town within East Herts (see below).

This consultation has now closed.

The council received a large number of comments that will now be collated and analysed.

A report will be prepared for the Executive with a decision expected in Summer 2023.

All respondents to the consultation will be updated when a decision has been made. The council’s website will also be updated with the outcome of the decision.

The EHDC (Control of Parking) (Consolidation) Order 2017

Periodically, the various Orders are brought together under a single Consolidated Order. This removes the need to administer hundreds of individual Orders, and instead creates a single document in which they can all be recorded. Key Traffic Regulation Orders will be published on Hertfordshire County Council website.

East Herts is responsible for introducing Resident Permit Parking Zones and making amendments within existing schemes including disabled parking bays. Herts County Council promotes parking orders such as new waiting restrictions, e.g. Double Yellow Lines

General enquiries and objections to the proposal may be made in writing to parking@eastherts.gov.uk or by letter to the Wallfields, Pegs Lane, Hertford, SG13 8EQ.
