Following the introduction of three-weekly collections, East Herts and North Herts Councils have launched a new mobile app to help residents manage their waste and recycling more easily.
Residents across North and East Herts can now spot “Sweep Caroline” the street sweeper, “Dame Foodie Dench” the food waste collection truck, and “Binderella” the Refuse Collection Vehicle out on their rounds – just a few of the winning names chosen for the area’s waste collection fleet.
As Arts in East Herts 2025 reaches its halfway point, the district continues to come alive with colour, sound and movement. From blacksmithing to ballet, painting to puppetry, the programme proves there’s an artform for everyone — and the second half is packed with even more opportunities to join in.

East Herts Council is set to begin public engagement on its Vision work, which will shape the update of the district plan once the government introduces the new national planning system.
East Herts Council has responded to a planning application made to Uttlesford District Council relating to an increase in passenger numbers up to 51 million per annum (mppa), which would be 8mppa above the already consented 43mppa, and the construction of two new taxiway links to the existing runway at Stansted Airport. The proposal would not increase the number of flights allowed to take place at the airport as the additional passenger numbers would be accommodated through using larger aircraft.

East Herts District Council is preparing for the launch of its new waste and recycling collection service, due to begin on Monday, 4 August 2025. As part of this change, all households will shortly receive a letter outlining whether their collection day is changing and detailing the new three-weekly collection cycle.
East Herts District Council will be hosting public information meetings at Water Lane Hall on Saturday, 19 July at 10am, and on Saturday, 26 July at 11am, where we will provide an update with regards to the state of the building.
