East and North Herts Councils are encouraging residents to do their bit to help the environment and keep service costs down by separating their paper from their mixed recyclables and general waste.
This week East Herts Council is launching a campaign to support the #WorthSaving initiative which aims to tackle the issue of avoidable food waste by encouraging residents to follow a ‘four steps to save’ food waste journey to develop better habits.
Following agreement by Executive on 25 October 2022, East Herts Council will begin the phasing of 180L refuse bins when existing general waste bins need to be replaced because they are lost or damaged. This will also begin the transition to standard bin sizes and colours for East and North Herts which will save money and improve stock levels for replacements.
You may spot some new additions to town centres in East Herts as new recycling bins are installed across the district - part of ongoing efforts to promote recycling, reduce litter and re-direct waste from landfill.
Proposals that would save money and boost the district’s recycling rate will be considered by the council’s Overview and Scrutiny Committee tonight (Tuesday, 20 September).
East Herts Council is inviting responses on the future of waste and recycling collections as it seeks to balance residents’ needs with the environmental impacts of services.
