Water Lane Hall
In 2023, after a change in political leadership at the council, Water Lane Hall was removed from the development plans.
Water Lane Hall is not a listed building and therefore has no protected historic or archaeological status. It is, however, in a Conservation Area and does have several interesting and unusual features, including memorial stones, roofing timbers and tiles.
Last year, the council carried out a full structural survey of the building. The survey found that at least £1.6 million would be needed to repair and restore the hall. You can read the full report here.
In February 2026, the council asked the public for their views on its future. Following the results of that survey, the council is currently pursuing a community ownership option with the Friends of Water Lane Hall.
