Masterplans

In order to ensure that the development outlined in the District Plan provides a well-designed, high-quality, environment and does not occur in isolation, East Herts Council is committed to ensuring that all new allocated sites in the District Plan undergo a "masterplanning" process.

This involves working with the various councils, local interest groups, the main site promoter and other land owners, to achieve a vision for the overall development of the site and ensure we are achieving key important elements in a way that will contribute to a great place for people to live, work and study.

Each of sites in the District Plan is covered by a steering group made up of the stakeholders above. Through a series of sessions with the steering group and the developer, a masterplan is created. These sessions are facilitated by planning officers. This masterplan is then examined by the Executive and Full Council at East Herts to assess whether it meets the vision for the area as discussed by the steering group. If approved, the masterplan becomes a material consideration in the respective planning application that is submitted.
