Vision

A Strategic Vision has been produced to chart a clear and ambitious course for the district’s future which will serve as the golden thread for the new District Plan, informing policies and decision-making that will shape East Herts in the years to come.

It highlights the district’s strengths and challenges in these areas and will guide policies and decision-making as the council updates the District Plan – its framework for growth over the next 20 years.

It comes at a crucial time as East Herts faces significant growth pressures, including increasing housing targets. The vision will guide the council as it seeks to balance development with protecting the district’s unique character and ensuring a high quality of life for residents.

View the Vision Document here. There is a six-week engagement period planned for later this year. A series of in-person events across the district will provide further opportunities for residents to engage and share their views.

The vision is built around six key themes: people, place, economy, environment, infrastructure, and movement. It highlights the district’s strengths and challenges in these areas and will guide policies and decision-making as the council updates the District Plan – its framework for growth over the next 20 years.
