Statement of Community Involvement (SCI)

The Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) sets out how East Herts Council will involve the community in the preparation, alteration and review of planning policy plans and guidance. It also explains how we will involve the community in planning applications.

Community engagement is a key part of the planning system as it ensures that the Council is able to listen to the views of stakeholders and the community to inform the outcome of planning decisions. This helps local people to become directly involved in place shaping in the district. The Council wishes to involve all sectors of the community in the planning process and is committed to maximising publicity of its planning documents.

The Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) was adopted at the Council meeting on 23 July 2025.

In accordance with the Town and Country Planning (Local Planning) (England) Regulations 2012 (as amended) an Adoption Statement has been prepared.

The SCI along with the supporting Equalities Impact Assessment can be viewed at the Council Offices in Hertford.
