Domestic Homicide Reviews

Since 2011 East Herts Community Safety Partnership has had a responsibility for undertaking Domestic Homicide Reviews (DHRs), where the death of a person aged 16 or over has or appears to have, resulted from violence, abuse or neglect by a relative, household member or someone she/he has been in an intimate relationship with.

Under guidance issued by the Home Office, any incident of domestic violence or abuse which results in the death of an individual requires a DHR to be carried out by the local Community Safety Partnership.

A Domestic Homicide Review (DHR) aims to improve agency responses to domestic abuse and to work better together to prevent such tragedies occurring in again. To achieve this, professionals need to be able to fully understand what happened in each death, and most importantly, what needs to change in order to reduce the risk of such tragedies happening in the future. They do not replace, but will be in addition to, an inquest or any other form of inquiry into the death.

East Herts Community Safety Partnership will publish the reports of any local Domestic Homicide Reviews on this page.
