Circular Walking Route

As part of the management plan a new circular walking route has been created making access around the woodland easier for visitors. The all-weather route passes through a variety of habitats from grassland to woodland carpeted with bluebells in the spring. This project was made possible with funding from the Forestry Commission through the English Woodland Grant Scheme funded by Defra under the Rural Development Programme for England

A 5-year management plan for Foxholes woodland in Hertford has been created with the assistance of the Countryside Management Service (CMS).

Local residents were consulted on our proposals on how to look after the woodland and using the feedback we received the Foxholes Woodland Management Plan 2012 - 2017 [2MB] was created.

The Countryside Management Service (CMS) is working in partnership with East Herts Council to draw up a new Greenspace Action Plan (GAP) for Foxholes Wood, which will guide management of the site between 2027 and 2037.

As part of the GAP production process, CMS will run two periods of engagement. We are currently inviting stakeholders and the local community to view and comment on a briefing document, which provides further information on the public engagement process and sets out objectives for the new plan.
