Statement of Community Involvement (SCI)

The Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) sets out how East Herts Council will involve the community in the preparation, alteration and review of planning policy, plans and decisions.

The Council is consulting on a revised draft Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) to reflect recent changes to planning regulations, including a requirement to review the SCI every five years.

Community engagement is a key part of the planning system as it ensures that the Council is able to listen to the views of stakeholders and the community to inform the outcome of planning decisions. This helps local people to become directly involved in place shaping in the district. The Council wishes to involve all sectors of the community in the planning process and is committed to maximising publicity of its planning documents. The draft SCI can be viewed here: Statement of Community Involvement Consultation Draft June 2019 [1MB]
