Withdrawal of Draft Neighbourhood Plan
The Council was informed on 13 January 2026, following an ordinary Parish Council Meeting on 12 January 2026, that Hertford Heath Parish Council have made a decision to withdraw their draft Neighbourhood Plan and all supporting evidence and documentation.
The Parish Council have set out the reasons for the withdrawal of the draft Neighbourhood Plan, as follows:
- The withdrawal of government funding for neighbourhood planning and the subsequent complete dependency on Parish Council funding to further progress the Plan.
- Lack of volunteer capacity to maintain a steering group.
- Limited community response to the public engagement process.
- Uncertainty regarding changes to the National Planning Policy Framework and the East Herts District Plan.
In light of this decision, there is currently no emerging Neighbourhood Plan in Hertford Heath.
Neighbourhood Area Designation
The Hertford Heath Parish was declared a Neighbourhood Area on the 4 February 2014. The designation request and map defining the area can be viewed below:
