Adopted Neighbourhood Plan
The Neighbourhood Plan has been formally 'adopted' and will be used as a part of the East Herts Development Plan.

Referendum Result
On 6 May 2021, the Neighbourhood Plan for Bengeo Referendum took place. The Neighbourhood Plan has been voted on and approved by the residents of the Parish. With a turnout of 49.1%, there was an overall 'yes' vote of 2,821 (94.8%), votes against 152 (5.2%). Publication of the Plan
The Independent Examination has concluded.
Although the Plan has been recommended for referendum (subject to the Plan being amended in line with the recommended modifications) by the examiner, changes have been introduced in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, which prevents a referendum taking place until May 2021. In accordance with Government guidance, the Neighbourhood Plan can be given significant weight in decision-making, providing the Plan is material to the application.
Independent Examination
John Slater BA(Hons) DMS MRTPI has been appointed to undertake the independent examination of the Bengeo Neighbourhood Area Plan. All correspondence between the examiner and East Herts Council will be published below.

Submission to East Herts - Reg 16 Public Consultation
On the 28th February 2020 Hertford Town Council submitted the Bengeo Area Neighbourhood Area Plan to East Herts District Council under Regulation 15 of the Neighbourhood Planning (General) Regulations 2012.
A consultation will run for a period of 8 weeks from the 16th July-10th September 2020.
Representations must be received by 5pm on 10th September.
In light of the recent Covid-19 pandemic the consultation will run for a period of 8 weeks to account for any disruption caused. Due also to the closure of the Council office and social distancing measures, we will not be providing hard copies of the consultation documents at viewing points. Pre-Submission Consultation (Reg 14)
Hertford Town Council are consulting on their Draft Neighbourhood Plan between 15 July and 15 September 2019. The Plan will then be submitted to East Herts Council.

Neighbourhood Area Designation
The Bengeo Ward was declared a Neighbourhood Area on the 27 June 2017. The designation request and map defining the area can be viewed below:
