Sarah Allen started her dog grooming business in 2012 but after an injury, she couldn’t groom anymore so decided to open a dog friendly café.

It took two years to get the grade II building ready for Wellies and Walkies in Buntingford and it was very slow to take off as the building had been closed for so and she had no money left for marketing and advertising.

But out of the pandemic and with the help of a grant from East Herts Council. she’s been able to diversify into a pre-ordered Asian take-away and a non profit ‘meals on wheels’  for the over 70’s with the massive help of delivery volunteers, Alex & Trevor.

Sarah said: "Our local council has worked so hard under these incredibly hard times, I cannot thank them enough for their clear communication, email support and financial allocation of government money via the small business grant scheme.

"Without their support, I don’t think my business have would survived. Thank you to your team, you are doing a fantastic job, I thank you again from the bottom of my heart.

Sarah Allen, dog groomer by trade, chef, meals on wheels provider, but most of all, small business survivor."
