The Breathe Easy group, which supports people with COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) and other lung conditions, has received a cheque for £506 after Waitrose in Bishop’s Stortford included it in their monthly shoppers vote.

The group brings people together to make friends and get advice and support from others with a similar condition. It meets monthly at Charringtons House on the third Thursday of each month from 2-4pm and includes a health talk and refreshments. A health professional is on hand too.

Organiser councillor Diane Hollebon said: “It was very gratifying that more than half the shoppers in June used their green disc to choose our group as their preferred cause. I’d like to thank Waitrose too for their support.”

The money will be used towards supporting speakers and activities to help with managing the group’s lung conditions better so they can live more independent and healthy lives. For more information about the group, email
