Environmental Health Technical Officer (Residential)

Job information

Grade 7, £31,077 - £34,408 (inclusive of local weighting) depending on experience.  Part time: 18.5 hours per week.  Permanent.  Based in Hertford.  Closing date is Monday 5 July at 9am.

We have vacant Technical roles within the Environmental Health team that have arisen as a result of internal promotion. This is an exciting time for you to join us and develop your career as we work towards a safe and healthy environment for the residents, workers and visitors of East Herts 
For this residential role applications are encouraged from those with a suitable qualification in Building Construction and/or relevant experience in Housing from an Environmental Health context.

About the role

The role requires you to visit dwellings, assess hazards under the Housing Health and Safety Rating System, produce schedules of work, and give appropriate advice to tenants and landlords on matters ranging from damp and mould to fire safety precautions and HMO licensing.

About you

The successful candidate in post will support the effective delivery of the Environmental Health team’s functions by using professional skills and knowledge to identify, investigate, analyse, evaluate and advise on issues and solutions relating to the areas of environmental health.  

Graduates who are already enrolled on the Environmental Health Practitioner programme are encouraged to apply; graduates are expected to possess a theoretical knowledge of Environmental Health principles including knowledge of enforcement and regulation
