Coronavirus and major projects update
Major projects update
Preparation works for a new multi-storey car park at Northgate End in Bishop’s Stortford and new leisure centre at Grange Paddocks in Bishop’s Stortford will continue in accordance with the latest from central government, Public Health England and the Construction Leadership Council.
We will be working with our contractors to ensure their on-site workers are able to follow the public health guidance. We will keep these arrangements under constant review and take any steps required to ensure the safety of the workforce.
Work is still being carried out behind the scenes to progress some of our other projects where it is safe and possible to do so. However, some aspects of the projects have been put on hold where any public facing work, such as consultations, is required.
Projects with some delays caused by the coronavirus pandemic include:
- Old River Lane public consultations
- Hertford Theatre public consultations
- Hartham Leisure Centre public consultations
- Hartham play area redevelopment
- Castle Park, Bishop’s Stortford, improvement works
- Pinehurst community centre refurbishment
- Hertford Hydro survey work and submission of full planning application.
We will provide further information on the revised delivery programmes in due course.
Hartham Leisure Centre
Following the deferral of the planning decision for Hartham Leisure Centre earlier this year, the project team are working to respond comments made at the Development Management Committee meeting in January and will go back out to consultation on a revised design as soon as practically possible and when restrictions are lifted.
Hertford Theatre will no longer be closing its doors in January 2021 for the redevelopment of the site. Instead, Hertford Theatre will offer a full programme of arts events and activities through to July 2021 ahead of the proposed redevelopment which is due to commence in August 2021.
