Coronavirus and opening safely

In order to prevent the spread of coronavirus and save lives the Government still requires certain businesses and premises to remain closed. All businesses and venues that are in operation should follow the Government guidelines.

Which businesses need to remain closed

While the Government is relaxing the lockdown restrictions for a number of businesses, in order to prevent the spread of coronavirus and save lives, the Government still requires certain businesses and premises to remain closed.

For a list of businesses that are to remain closed please see the guidance for businesses page of the website

All other businesses and venues can remain open but should be following current guidance from Public Health England.

A person operating a business in contravention of the Government’s requirement will be committing an offence. East Herts Council’s Environmental Health with support from Hertfordshire Trading Standards will monitor compliance with this new requirement.

Opening Safely

As more businesses begin to open it is important that they do so safely and follow the latest Government guidance.

For information on the list of businesses and venues that are able to open from the 4th July see the Government guidance on the website.

The latest information and advice for employers, employees and the self-employed can be found on the Hertfordshire Local Enterprise Partnership website

Guidance for a range of businesses on how to work safely during coronavirus can be found on the Government's business support page on the website

Food businesses may have many questions about how to safely operate their business or how to convert to a takeaway for the duration of the coronavirus situation. The Government provides lots of useful information which can be found on the Government's Working safely during coronavirus webpage.
