Heritage & Conservation Areas

  • Conservation Areas

    A Conservation Area is an area of special architectural or historic interest the character or appearance of which it is desirable to preserve or enhance. They are designated by the Council.

  • Listed Buildings

    A Listed Building is a building or structure of special architectural or historic interest. They are designated by the Secretary of State on the advice of Historic England.

  • Heritage Grants

    The Council has three heritage grants schemes.

  • Heritage at Risk

    Heritage at Risk is the term for heritage assets that are at risk of being lost, generally due to neglect or decay.
