Project Manager (CSP06b)

Grade 10, £40,760 to £44,632 (inclusive of local weighting), full time, 37 hours per week, fixed term contract for 2 years. Applications for secondments from other local authorities are welcome. Based in Hertford. Closing date is 23 April at 9am.

About the role 
 
We are looking for an experienced Project Manager to work on a number of East Herts Council initiatives. This will include taking a leading role on the exciting and rewarding Castle Park project in Bishop's Stortford. This lottery funded re-design of the town centre park will involve refurbishment of a building, construction of a bridge, protection of heritage, wildlife enhancements, development of sports facilities and community projects. Some of the key responsibilities include:

  • Effective contract management of construction projects
  • Reporting, collaborative working and team working
  • Procurement of goods and services as required to deliver agreed programmes of work
  • Motivating and engaging in a multi-stakeholder environment to deliver outcomes 
  • Effective management of all operational budgets associated with individual projects in accordance with financial regulations 
  • An ability to work outside normal office hours when necessary e.g. evening or weekend member and public meetings 

About you
 
The ideal candidate will have:

  • Educated to degree level or previous business projects or development experience 
  • Project management qualification 
  • Track record of delivering successful projects 
  • Experience of managing projects in a large organization or multi-agency environment 
  • Experience of writing business cases, project initiation documents and specifications 
  • Able to interface with technical and business specialists internally and within partner or supplier organisations 

Additional desirable but not essential skills include

  • Degree in an engineering or construction related subject 
  • RICS or RIBA related project management qualification 
  • Experience of delivering construction projects / urban regeneration projects 
  • Political sensitivity and experience of working with Members 
  • Experience of influencing staff at all levels to ensure all members of the team including users and stakeholders own project objectives
