Luton Airport consults on expansion

London Luton Airport (a company owned by Luton Borough Council) has launched an informal consultation around potential expansion of the airport from its current capacity of 18 million passengers per annum (mppa), which it expects to be reached by 2021, to 36-38 mppa by 2050.

The consultation seeks views on a series of expansion options making use of the existing single runway, to which East Herts Council will respond.  Feedback from all those who take part will inform a further round of statutory consultation on a single proposal in 2019, as part of the planning application process.

Details of the consultation, including a programme of drop in events, can be found at

The consultation closes on August 31.
