Final consultation on District Plan

A six-week consultation on the main modifications to East Herts Council's District Plan has now been agreed and will run from February 15- March 29.

The main modifications refer to changes proposed either by the council or the inspector following the Examination in Public (EiP) hearing sessions.

Councillors agreed at last night's Full Council meeting (Feb 6) that the consultation, which is only on the main modifications and no other aspect of the District Plan, should go ahead.

The modifications take into consideration any local changes, comments by the inspector and matters arising from the EiP but they don't require the inclusion of any new sites for housing.

Although the number of homes that East Herts Council needs has increased from 745 annually to 839, the council had already made provision for this so it doesn't affect the draft Plan.

The council will be writing to the thousands of people on its database who have already responded to previous versions of the Plan, to let them know about the consultation.

All the documents will be made publicly available at that anyone else can also comment.

Any comments made in response to the consultation will be collated and then sent directly to the inspector to consider. The council is expecting a final report from the inspector at the end of April.
