New Year's Resolutions

If you're a fan of New Year's resolutions, but always struggle to keep them or if you want to try something different this year but don't know where to start take a look at our tips and ideas for New Year's resolutions in 2018.

If you're looking to shake things up a bit this take a look at our list of alternative New Year's resolutions.

Read a book a month

It may seem small but spending some time relaxing with a good book is great for your emotional wellbeing. You could join a book club or make your way through one of the must read lists. Either way reading is a great and achievable New Year's resolution. To get you started, take a look at the Must Read Book Lists on the goodreads website.

Volunteer

The great thing about volunteering is that you can find something to fit the time you have available. Take a look at #TeamHerts volunteering website to find out what vacancies are near you.

Visit somewhere new

As the biggest district in Hertfordshire, East Herts has a fantastic array of places to visit. This year why not decide to explore somewhere new? The Visit Herts website is a great starting point for anyone looking to discover something new in the district.

Try a new recipe

Whether it's weekly, monthly or just once every so often, trying out a new recipe is a great New Year's resolution. Who knows, you might even find a new family favourite? For inspiration why not take a look at the BBC's guide to seasonal ingredients in January.

Walk more

Lots of the journeys we make by car are often within 10 or 15 minutes' walk of our homes. Be kind to your health and the environment this year and when you can leave the car and walk instead. Want to get more involved? Keep any eye out for different activities in the lead up to Clean Air Day 2018  which is on 21st June this year.
