Old Christmas trees

If you had a real Christmas tree this year and it doesn't have any roots, you may struggle to know what to do with it. Take a look at our quick guide of how to dispose of your Christmas tree this year.

Christmas Tree Recycling - Grove Cottage

If you bring your old tree along to the Link Road Car Park in Bishop's Stortford on the 8th January at 10am, Grove Cottage Bishop's Stortford Mencap is running a recycling morning. Simply call in, drop off your tree along with a donation and the tree will be chipped and recycled. More details are available on the website.

Replant it

It may sound odd but even if your tree doesn't have roots you could try replanting it in a pot or in the ground. Many trees like Norwegian Spruces and Fraser Firs are pretty resilient and when replanted can start to grow again. Better yet, you will have a tree ready for next year.

Take it to the tip

Your local Household Waste & Recycling Centre (tips) will recycle your old tree for you. Please check the website for opening days and times before you go.
