Get involved with Forever Active East Herts

Interested in helping us out? There a range of volunteering roles and other ways to get involved with Forever Active East Herts.

Become a Forever Active Volunteer

There are several different volunteering opportunities available to help you get involved with Forever Active East Herts.

General Roles

 General roles include:

  • Leaflet distribution, marketing and promotion.
  • Helping with classes/events and being a friendly welcoming face.
  • Helping with the admin of the scheme.

Physical Activity Champion

Physical Activity Champions are responsible for promoting, organising and arranging delivery of exciting sports and physical activity sessions for the benefit of people aged over 50 in the district, particularly those that are currently inactive.

Champions will work with the council to help recruit local volunteers, encourage people to take part in activities and find qualified instructors.

You will also be keen to motivate and encourage sedentary adults aged over 50 to take part, and will take on the role of "sports buddy", encouraging participants and celebrating individual and group success.

You will also collect participant data, invoices and income/expenditure accounts and submit to us.

Fitness Coach

We're also looking for qualified coaches or instructors who have had experience of working with older adults and participants with age related medical conditions to join the team.

We are currently looking for coaches and instructors for the following sports and activities. If your activity is not listed, it is still worth getting in touch with us to see if it something we can add to the programme!

  • Tai chi, yoga, Pilates, exercise to music or senior Zumba
  • Nordic walking
  • Walking sports, such as walking football or walking netball
  • Indoor short mat bowls or outdoor bowls
  • Boccia, patanque or new age kurling
  • Seated chair exercise
  • Tennis, badminton or table tennis
  • Golf
  • Running or cycling
  • Swimming
  • Archery

If you don't have a qualification but are interested in getting involved, we also have training opportunities for volunteers to become fitness coaches.

In exchange for the opportunity to obtain these coaching qualifications free of charge, volunteers must commit to providing free coaching for up to one year as part of the Forever Active programme.
