Presentation to East Herts knight

Hertford resident Sir John Menzies Low was presented with a certificate in recognition of his achievements by East Herts Council chairman Jeff Jones at full council this month.

Sir John is the CEO for Charities Aid Foundation or CAF and during his time there, he has overseen a significant increase in the funds raised from donors and amounts distributed to charities.

He has also developed a social investment vehicle to provide charities with early stage capital. He's restructured and recapitalised the Charity Bank; created an extensive research wing; and made the Foundation the core co-ordinating voice for the charity sector as a whole.

Sir John who has lived in Hertford since the 1980s was awarded a Knighthood in the Queen's birthday honours list this year for his numerous services to charity. He thanked the council and said: "There is no doubt that people of East Herts are generous in their charitable giving both in terms of donations and volunteering their time.
