Tell us your thoughts on ID scanners

East Herts Community Safety Partnership would like to know what you think about it buying some Scannet machines for some late-night bars and clubs in Bishop's Stortford and Hertford.

The Scannet system can recognise fake ID and help stop people at the door who are too young to go in. It also allows door staff to quickly identify people who've been barred from other establishments, so they can decide whether they should be allowed entry or not.

Executive member for environment and public space Graham McAndrew said: "The majority of people going out at night in our town centres are considerate of others and just want to enjoy themselves, so I think that introducing the Scannet system could protect everyone by helping to identify any troublemakers."

"It's being used in many other areas to help detect and cut crime, as well as acting as a deterrent for potential offenders."

You can go to the following webpage to find out more and complete the survey by November 3: https://www.eastherts.gov.uk/article/35146/Community-Safety-Projects
