District Plan goes up for independent examination

September 27 2017 - The next important stage towards the final adoption of East Herts Council's District Plan - an Examination in Public (EiP) - is due to start on Tuesday October 3.

The District Plan sets out where homes and related infrastructure will go in the district until 2033 and the EiP will be held in the council chamber at Wallfields, Pegs Lane, Hertford SG13 8EQ.

It will be webcast, meaning that anyone can watch it live from home. People will also be able to attend sessions, subject to space availability.

During the first two weeks, an independent inspector will consider strategic matters including housing, infrastructure, employment, retail and the Green Belt. In November the inspector will consider specific sites in detail.

The inspector will determine who she would like to participate in the hearing sessions.

Council leader Linda Haysey said: "We're reaching an important stage towards the adoption of the Plan which will set out how our district will look into the future. The EiP marks the culmination of many years of detailed research and consultation."
