Grants of up to £10K for local businesses

Are you a business owner either thinking about moving or enlarging your premises in the district? If so, you may be eligible for a grant from East Herts Council in the form of a discount of up to £10,000 from your business rates.

Mr. Barbers has recently had a business grant approved for a new shop in Bishop's Stortford. Owner Karl Foster said: "We're really pleased to have been given a grant, because, as everyone knows, a new business is a great outlay, so a saving is very helpful at this point.

"We're enjoying being in Bishops Stortford as it's my home town - I was actually born here. It will also be our base for the Head Office. We have two great local barbers working out of the shop, so the grant has helped us improve their start in North Street."

Executive member for economic development Gary Jones said: "I'm delighted that Mr. Barbers is basing its head office in Bishop's Stortford and creating more jobs in the town.

The council is keen to do what it can to support businesses and the local economy. The aim of these grants is to give businesses a helping hand and encourage them to locate in East Herts."
