District Plan reaches crucial stage - Examination in Public

August 14 2017 - An independent government inspector is set to conduct an Examination in Public (EiP) of East Herts Council's District Plan - the next important stage towards the Plan's final adoption.

The District Plan sets out where homes and related infrastructure will go in the district until 2033.

During the EiP the inspector will consider the plan in detail and will determine who is invited to participate in the process.

The EiP takes place in the council chamber at Wallfields, Pegs Lane, Hertford SG13 8EQ.

The current timetable sees the EiP starting on Tuesday October 3 at 10am. During the first two weeks, the inspector will consider general matters including housing, infrastructure, employment and retail and the Green Belt. The sessions are open for anyone to attend.

From Nov 6 the inspector will then start looking at specific sites in detail.

Council leader Linda Haysey said: "We are now reaching an important stage towards the adoption of the Plan. During the Examination in Public the inspector will be considering the council's strategy for future development carefully."

After the hearing sessions have closed the inspector will write a report which the council hopes to receive towards the end of this year.
