Tai chi

Tai chi for beginners is a gentle introduction to this popular activity with coach Kim Noy-Man who lots of experience with new starters. It's on Wednesdays at 7.30-8.30pm.

Nordic walking

There's also Nordic Walking for Beginners which offers a short easy walk, starting at 9.30am every Wednesday from the Memorial Hall.

Gill said: "I'm finding it a great activity -  walking with poles makes me feel very stable, and I'm making some new friends. I've also encouraged two friends to join our group. Liz is a good instructor and very helpful.

Participants use the kitchen afterwards to finish the class with a cup of tea and chat.   Poles are provided.

The first of each class is free and then it's £3/class. All classes take place in Sawbridgeworth Memorial Hall.

Gentle and friendly

Eric Buckmaster, executive member for health and wellbeing, said: "Gentle exercise is the best way to start getting a little more active and these friendly classes are ideal for beginners."

The classes are subsidised by Sawbridgeworth Memorial Hall Trust, East Herts Council, Sport England and local GPs. They're part of the Forever Active East Herts programme for those aged 50 plus.
