Voter Registration

Request Description

Online Voter Registration

(1) Whether you offer the choice for people to register to vote (a) online (b) by post or (c) in any other way.

i. In the case of online registration, please provide details of how the process works (ie do people have to set up a user profile with the local authority, is there a specific portal they must sign into, do they require a username and password)

ii. In the case of registration by post, whether an envelope or a freepost envelope is provided for recipients to respond.

iii. In the case of any other way, please provide details of how the process works.

Annual Canvass

(2) How the electoral registration form/ notification for the annual canvass is distributed to residents (eg by post, or an alternative form)

Individual Electoral Registration

(4) What changes you have made to your electoral registration and annual canvass systems for the implementation of individual electoral registration, and whether any allowances have been made for those who are not online or are unable to sue / access the internet?

(5) Whether people will have the choice to register to vote / update their entry on the electoral register as part of the annual canvass (a) online (b) by post or (c) in any other way

(1) Registration to vote online is not handled by Eastherts by by a national body we provide information and links to that body here: Register to Vote - Individual Electoral Registration

(2) By Post

(3) Response online will be handled by GOV.UK/register-to-vote. We do not hold information on the process. In previous years there has been an option of a prepaid envelope postal return and a text message return

(4) There are teminals provided free of charge for public use at our offices and if we are contacted by residents who are unable to utilise the online system we can perform registration by post.

(5) The preferred method is (a) online.
