Street Care and Cleansing

Introduction

Keeping our local streets and other areas free from litter is an important part of ensuring that East Herts remains a pleasant place in which to live and work.

Street Cleansing Machine

The public play an important role in this by properly disposing of their waste.

The Council then organise sweeping and litter removal to remove any litter which is dropped.

From picking up litter to removing abandoned vehicles, there are different areas within street cleansing

  • Abandoned VehicleAbandoned Vehicles
    An abandoned vehicle is one without a known owner.
  • Dead Animals
    You should inform the Police immediately on 999 if there is a large dead or injured animal obstructing traffic and it is a danger to road users.
  • Dog Fouling
    Have you ever stepped in dog faeces? If the answer is yes, you will probably agree that it is smelly and very difficult to remove from your shoes.
  • Environmental Crime
    Introduction East Herts Council is committed to improving standards of neighbourhood management, raising awareness of and tackling environmental crime and anti-social behaviour.
  • Fly Tipping
    The Council treats this problem very seriously and will prosecute anyone caught fly tipping waste. Fly tipping is the common term used to describe waste illegally deposited on land as described under section 33 of the Environment Protection Act 1990.

    Please note: we can only accept and act upon reports within East Herts Council's area.
