Waste and RecyclingIntroductionOn 2 November 2009 a new waste and recycling programme was introduced The new waste and recycling service allows us to respond to your requests to recycle more and help you to protect the environment as well as controlling the growing cost of waste disposal. East Herts produces around 56,000 tonnes of waste every year and currently recycles 35%. But we want to do even better. We aim to increase our recycling rate and reduce waste even further over the next few years and you can help! Your actions of recycling more materials and removing food waste from landfill will directly affect the amount of methane and carbon dioxide released into the environment which affects climate change.
