Introduction

In February 2008 East Herts Council commissioned Chase & Partners to undertake an assessment of future retail requirements for the District's main settlements - namely Bishop's Stortford, Hertford, Ware, Sawbridgeworth and Buntingford.

This study will form part of the evidence base for the Council's emerging Local Development Framework (LDF). It will inform the Council's preferred options for its Core Strategy, assist in the formulation of policies for new retail development in the emerging LDF, and provide background information to assist the determination of planning applications for such developments in the future.
